Uncle George's 90th Birthday Party

"What a great afternoon at George Heard's 90th birthday celebration! Wow, amazed that he has so many family members and friends that love him so much! What an incredible life he has lived where he has known some truly wonderful people. We were blessed to have standing room only of his immediate family, our beloved Brooksville family, his coffee club men, great neighbors, old and new friends of his, loved ones from town of Decatur and it was topped off with a Air National Guard fly over! Only man I know that gets all that in one day. Love ya GrandGeorge! " -Sarah Eason Wilbourne (granddaughter)

World War II Veteran
Uncle George is an American Hero. He served his country during World War II. He served on  LST 460 in the Pacific theatre of the war.  His ship shown below was attacked by the Japanese in the Pacific. Uncle George was manning his gun as it happened. He shot at the planes that were attacking his ship. Once the ship was hit badly, he jumped from the gun turret to the deck of the ship and then into the ocean. He was injured and he was very brave. His shooting that day protected many of the other men on his ship. Thankfully he is a living hero from that day. He lost some of his dear brotherhood from the ship during the gun battle. I am so grateful to him and the Great Generation that served in WWII and for the sacrifices that they made.

This photo of the LST 460 was taken somewhere in the South Pacific

George Heard's Family
Uncle George has four children, Melissa, Beth, Tom, and Nancy. His son-in-laws are Charlie and Randy and his daughter-in-law is Becky. Aunt Sarah, Uncle George's wife will always be the love of his life. Their grands and great-grands are his pride and joy.  George Heard Jr is the second oldest child of George T. Heard and Ruby Boykin Heard. Elizabeth, Jimmy, Johnny, and Tiny(Sam) are his siblings. Bud, Dolly, Peggy, and Annie B. are his brother and sisters-in-laws. Uncle George loves his family as much as any man could. While loving each of his siblings, his children, his grandchildren, his great grand children and his nieces and nephews, he has made it his life priority to have all of us be very close.
