June 19, 2011- Our 7th Wedding Anniversary

"Mary Ann - The best thing that can happen to a person is to have someone special to love....
that is why the best thing that ever happened to me is you.
Happy Anniversary. You're my best friend! I love you, Matt"

"Matt - Nothing makes me happier or more sure of my place in the world than being your wife and sharing this wonderful life with you. You bring me more happiness and joy than I could ever hope for. And I want you to know that I will always be grateful from the bottom of my heart,
for you and your love.
Happy Anniversary. I love you! Love, Mary Ann."

My Mother-In-Law, Marianne Murphy whom I affectionately call MIL sent us a card for our day which gives us some loving and wonderful advice. It says,

"How to Celebrate a Beautiful Anniversary
Recall the years
Reaffirm the friendship
Reflect upon the lessons
Renew your commitment
Remember how lucky you are and be happy!!

Congratulations!
I love you both so much, Mom/MIL"

She also sent us another card that says,
"True love is unmistakeable. It looks just like you two.
Happy Anniversary! Love you! Mom/MIL"

I think that all of these sentiments perfectly tell the story of Matt and me on our 7th Anniversary. It was  truly a special occasion. We spent our morning with my parents, Stephen, and Nathan. Then we had lunch with our extended family in Brooksville. Later that evening, the two of us had dinner in Starkville at Old Venice where we used to go when we were dating. We had the same drinks, appetizer and pizza that we used to get back then. We had fun remembering when and being thankful for our lives and are looking forward to a wonderful future together. We are so thankful to have one another.  It was a fun and special day.

Father's Day 2011

Father's Day is a wonderful day for my family because of the great men in our family. This year was no exception, it was the perfect occasion to show love and appreciation to our fathers and our heavenly Father. We had lunch at Libby and Neel's house. Present for the occasion were Tiny and Annie B Heard, Elizabeth Heard, Tiny and Lou Heard, George Neel and Beverly Abrams, Matt and Mary Ann, Leah and Jud, Neel and Libby, Stephen, Nathan, Neely, and Audrey.

The food was great Libby, Lou, Beverly, Leah, and Annie B prepared it. Little Tiny asked the blessing, praising and thanking the Lord for our family, and Fathers, and especially thanking Him for the hands that prepared the meal. Mama's deserts were phenomenal. She made chocolate pound cake, strawberry cake, and banana pudding. I left there full and ready for my afternoon nap at Mama and Daddy's house.

Richard, Katie, and Kirksey could not come this year. It was Richard's very first Father's Day! We missed them. They will be moving to Memphis next week so they will be close by for more visits in the future. Our entire family is looking forward to that! Keith and Chrissy were in Maryland with her Dad and children. We missed them too. Matt's Dad was in Vegas and they had a good chat on the phone.

The boys gave Matt a platter, tongs and BBQ turner. Matt, the boys and I gave my Daddy a book about Reagan and a crossword puzzle book. Daddy's quote of appreciation about the book after I asked him if he had that book was, "I have read about Reagan before and I can read about him again." It got a big laughter from the crowd.

The sweetest part of the day was when Stephen and Nathan gave Matt his card. The card said,

"We Love you,
DAD
warm and kind, fun and loving,
wise and giving, caring and sincere.
Thanks for all the ways
you make such a difference
in our lives just by being
the great dad you are!
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY
Love, Nathan & Stephen"

Stephen Working - Grassroots Politics At It's Best

Stephen came home for a minute and put out some signs in my neighborhood.  He has been working hard in Lowndes County and it was great for him to come home to bring me and my neighbor a sign.

Grassroots politics at its best. Thank you son!

Father's Day is coming up this
 Sunday, June 19th 2011.
" My father didn't tell me how to live; he lived, and he let me watch him do it."
Thank you Daddy for your great example.
"Dad, you're someone to look up to no matter how tall I've grown."
Happy Father's Day
