The Annual Halloween Party
MSU lost to Alabama
This is what my cousin Russ Garner said after our loss to Alabama, "When did my True Maroon begin? It didn't begin in 1968, when I was born, it didn't begin in 1988 when I first went to school at State, nor in 1990 when I graduated. It began in 1912 when a young country boy (my great-grandfather) from Northwestern Noxubee county stepped onto the campus of Mississippi A & M College. Tradition. That began a legacy that includes in my family numerous uncles, cousins, and continues today, 100 years later with my son. I still believe!"
So I will say the same thing, "When did my True Maroon begin? It didn't begin in 1964, when I was born, it didn't begin in 1982 when I first went to school at State, nor in 2002 when I graduated. It didn't begin when my husband graduated from MSU in 1996. It began in 1912 when a young country boy (my grandfather) from Northwestern Noxubee county stepped onto the campus of Mississippi A & M College. Tradition. That began a legacy that includes in my family numerous uncles, cousins, and continues today, 100 years later with my three sons. I still believe!"

Stephen and Nathan went to the game and so did Megan although they were cheering for opposing teams. Matt and I enjoyed the game at home while grilling out with the neighbors. We had a cowbell and we rang it each time the Bulldogs scored and that was a lot. Good thing the neighbors were here or they might have complained about the noise!! It was a fun night. When I looked on Facebook I found this picture of Richard with his friends Andrew and Jeremy. This picture is a classic so I had to share it. It is great to see these three, that have known each other since childhood together celebrating a MSU victory. I talked to Megan and she said she was able to see Stephen and Brian. Megan said the Cowbells were really loud and she did not like them very much. Go Dawgs! Hail State!

Donald R. Garner
October 11, 1945- October 3, 2012
The funeral service was held on the afternoon of October 6th 2012. We grieved our loss and celebrated Don's life. Brother Jay Spiller and Brother Danny Avery presided. The service was a perfect tribute. All the glory went to God. Linda wrote a letter to the congregation and the family gathered. Brother Jay read it. The letter was full of love and remembrance of their 46 year marriage. Bro. Jay told some funny stories and everyone in the congregation smiled with memories of Don's humor and wit. Bro. Jay read reassuring scriptures that he found underlined in Don's Bible. Lyla sang two beautiful songs and Lou and Deborah played the music. Lou also found music written down by Don. "How Great Thou Art" was one of the songs played. Bro. Danny spoke at the graveside and encouraged the family with scripture. He spoke especially to Don's grandchildren recalling precious Bible school lessons. Don would have loved that the focus of the services was God's grace, mercy, and God's gift of salvation. Don's character was summed up...He is a good man and Godly man. The service was a great witness and blessing.
The following scripture was on the bulletin:
1 John 1:9
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just
and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
