1st Day Back! 2011-2012 School Year
Today was the first day back to school. We started the year with convocation and professional development meetings. Principal Edith Mitchell welcomed all of us back. Superintendent Mike Kent led the convocation meeting. Mr. Megehee, Assistant Superintendent, explained "Common Core" which is the new method that we will be using instead of "No Child Left Behind". I was so happy to see all of my colleagues and to hear about the changes. It was a very positive day. Lt. Governor elect, Tate Reeves was our speaker this morning. His speech was very impressive, and I like his ideas for jobs and education. Mr. Kent, Ms. Mitchell, and Mrs. Slay (SPED Director) gave us very good news. Madison Central High School is a Star Level school. We had a really high QDI and growth was shown in our test scores! Also during the SPED meeting, we learned that our Alternate Assessment scores were excellent as well. Ms. Mitchell was so proud of us. It was a good first day in "The Jungle."
